Bill Consolidating
February 28th, 2008
More now than ever, it seems people are struggling with bill consolidation. Constantly, there are reports how this issue is becoming an epidemic in the United States. Credit cards have become one of the biggest contributors to this problem because people are spending money that they do not have. Some people spend their entire lives trying to get out of debt. Rather than putting up the money at the time of purchase, people are able to buy an item and then make monthly payments. The issue that results from here is the interest on having these credit cards. People pay more than the item is worth because they do not have all of the money at the original time of purchase. Credit card companies make money because you need to borrow from them since you do not have the necessary money ready in full at the start. You have to pay over an extended period of time. In past times, people only had a couple of bills. It was a mortgage, a car payment and maybe some other expensive item that had payments. Yet, people now abuse credit cards and find themselves with hundreds and thousands of dollars in bills. So not only do people struggle with bill consolidation, the bills in general are more costly. People are inundated with credit card bills which they are trying to catch up on. It is a cycle that never ends until people make the decision to limit on spending and manage their money more effectively. Homes, cars and everything in between have increased incredibly in value and cost. Mainly, it is young adults who do have guidance who get themselves in trouble and it does not take very long to get into debt. However, it could take years to recover from poor financial decisions. It is better to just get rid of credit cards all together. This way you can only purchase things you have the money to buy. People usually live well outside of their means. Status is one of the greatest problems for people in financial limbo. It is important for people to have more than their neighbor, even if this means they technically can not afford the cost of those items.
Vacation Rentals
February 28th, 2008
My sister has always wanted me to buy her a home on the beach. For some reason, ever since we were little, she has always wanted a home there. It does not matter the beach or the home, just that the home is on the beach. I was five when I made the promise to her that one day I would buy that home. I am almost thirty now, but I am in the process of buying my sister her dream home. I have secretly been looking out in California for the past two years. If I was going to buy her a home, I wanted to make sure it was everything she could possible imagine. About a month ago on a business trip out to the Golden State, I took a drive along the cost and looked for the right home. I have done this several times before, but I always left without finding the right one. Well, this time it was different. An hour or so into my search, I came across a pinkish home that sat perfectly off the coast with a gorgeous wrap around porch. A real estate agent happened to be putting some brochures about the vacation property out at the front of the driveway. I rolled down the window and asked if I could see the place. A couple minutes later I was standing in the living room. This was the one. I knew right then and there I was going to buy this home for my sister. It was just like those vacation rentals my parents took us to when we were kids. I immediately fell in love with everything about the house. I could not have built a better place for her. Everything was right even down to the seashell tile in the bathroom shower. I made an offer that afternoon. The real estate agent made a couple of calls and I was on my way to sign some paperwork. My sister still has no idea that I am buying this house for her. Next week, the two of us are flying out there so she can officially become the owner. I plan on taking her to the house and when we are standing in the kitchen, I am going to hand her the keys. She is going to be ecstatic.
Cyprus Property
February 25th, 2008
A friend of mine was telling me the other day he was going to buy some property on an island. It sounded like a crazy idea. However, once he began to explain his intentions further, I thought the idea was worth more research on my end. Even it was possible and an intelligent property investment, I did not want to be left out of any deal. He said the island was located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Greece. The island is officially known as the Republic of Cyprus. I went to the hall closet to grab one of my kid’s world maps so I could better comprehend the location of where this Cyprus property existed. There it was on the map. In reality, the island is a pretty substantial piece of land. It is not quite the deserted island lost in the Pacific Ocean where native inhabitants have still been undiscovered. Instead, it is a flourishing, developed European country located right in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. My friend pulled out some pages he had previously printed off a website on the Internet to explain further how the investment would work. Apparently, there is a good portion of property for sale in Cyprus. Although not ever piece of land on the island is as valuable as another. It is important to research the island and determine which areas have the greatest property value and subsequent return on my investment in the future. If I am going to be paying a monthly mortgage on the piece of property, I by all means want to make sure it is going to be profitable for me. The whole process is going to be tricky because I do not plan on moving to Cyprus. I will be managing this piece of property from my home in the United States. However, the new property would be an ideal place to take the family on a vacation. My wife and kids would love to travel across the Atlantic Ocean and visit Europe. There is some much to see in other countries and so many different cultures to experience. Owning property overseas will give my kids the opportunity to develop a greater awareness of the world around them.
Debt Consolidation and becoming Debt Free
February 25th, 2008
My best friend has gotten himself into quite a financial dilemma. He has not been very smart with credit card purchases. He is over five thousand dollars in debt just in credit cards. The interest alone is killing him. Recently, he was in the process of transferring jobs when the whole thing fell apart. It put him in even more of a difficult situation. His employer obviously did not like his decision to look for a new job. As a result, my best friend lost his job. Here he is in major debt and now he does not even have a job. That was a tough few days to be around him. Right now he is out searching for a more long term and better paying job, but for the time being he is working at the local office supply store to make some money. To help him get a hold of the problem and obtain some debt consolidation, I have let him move in with me. For the first couple of months, I am going to let him live with me for free. I hope the idea does not backfire on me. This way he can save about nine hundred a month on rent payments. The studio apartment he was living in is an unnecessary cost at this point. We sat down the other night and went over his finances. It will take him four or five months to pay off the credit cards and be debt free. First, he needs to find a new job. The temporary office supply job is not going to provide him with any stability. I am happy to see he is out making money rather than sitting around unemployed, but he needs to get going on another full-time job. The debt consolidation is only going to help him if he starts to save money after paying off his bills. Unfortunately, the money he is making now is not enough to start saving. Everything will go to bills. He has a job interview with a local sports marketing company on Thursday, so I am hoping it goes well and he gets the job.
Hotel Deals on my trip to Greece
February 18th, 2008
My partner has always talked about going to Greece. As long as I have known her, about eight years, she has said how much she would love to go to the Greek isles. See, the pull for her is not the culture or the history. It’s not even about the art or architecture. No her reason of desire is the food. The only other thing about her that has not changed over all these years is her love of food. She loves every aspect of food from talking about it , creating it, and consuming it. I have always told her that she should consider going to some kind of culinary school but she thinks that would diminish he deep l’ve by turning it in to work. Her favorite foods are not the typical American foods, or even the blends of culture that are quite popular in the cities like New York and Philadelphia. Her favorite foods to obsess over are the very strict ethnic foods. She can tell you how authentic a particular Indian dish is to the region it comes from. Her palate is so sensitive that I have given up trying to be the cook around the house because she never eats anything I make for her. I decided this year to try and give her the experience she always wanted by taking her to Greece. My biggest motivator was actually not that she had talked about it so long, but that I found a bunch of great hotel deals in Greece. I was looking online one day and just for fun I started to compare hotel rates in different places. After looking for a while I noticed a section on the web site about Greece and started to compare hotel prices. After about two hours of looking I realized that I could totally afford to take her and I on a trip for about a week in their off season. Quickly before my usual financial worry took over and the idea would be lost forever, I made a quick hotel reservation and sat back. This is where my planning had begun and now I have begun planning all of the rest of the trip.
Debt Consolidation
February 13th, 2008
When I first came to States seven years ago, I had a very vague impression as to what debt consolidation was. I am originally from Eastern Europe, and there, the notion of debt is rather something that people generally do not accept, although, now, it is starting to be more and more popular to use credit (loans) on things like cars, condos, houses, electronics, etc. However, there, people do not live on credit cards. If they have the money, they will spend it, if not, then not. However, here, I notice bill consolidation on credit cards and other line of credit is very common. Apparently, the notion of consumption is very widespread. I understand it, as, personally, I sometimes feel drawn in by the attractive and vivid images of publicity, ads, and so forth. Sometimes it just feels that it is impossible to resist the temptation of consuming, more, and more, and more, and more. However, since, apparently, there is never enough money, consuming more and more and more and more leads to more and more and more and more debt – as sometimes there are not enough hours in a day to get everything done, so here there is just sometimes not enough money to cover all the desired expenses. What’s worse, for me, at least, is that once I start spending more, I start to see that there is much more to spend on – just like the vicious circle. For example, once I realized that sometimes I can afford to spend a bit of money on this and that home essential (like, buying nicer towels, decorating the apartment a bit more, etc), I soon realized that once our apartment looks a bit better, we, ourselves, deserve to rest a bit more, go out a bit more – the list goes on and on and on. These “bits” accumulate – so do the debts. Sometimes I start wondering if there is a certain job that will take care of all these expenses…and sometimes I find that there just is not one. It’s difficult, though, since once you start spending, you need more and more debt help, and the circle continues…
Reputation Management
February 5th, 2008
How important is your reputation to the success of your company? If you’re like most business owners, you’ve worked hard to portray an image of being a firm steeped in integrity. Everything you’ve worked so hard to build can come crashing down in an instant. The sad reality is, the demise of your firm could be based on lies and intentional defamation and until recently, there wasn’t much you could do to stop it. Now, with reputation management you can.
It’s imperative that you know what others are saying about you, because with the Internet, one well-placed negative statement can affect your business and your profitability for years. You may believe that the truth will set you free, and that truth is all that matters. That’s no longer the case, as bloggers and anyone with something to say can be heard simply by shouting from the nearest rooftop. The Internet is that rooftop.
What is being shouted – and who is shouting? Is it a friend? Is it a competitor? How can you know unless you control the message? Pretend you’re a tire manufacturer. You have the safest tires on the road and a sterling reputation. Profits are up; life is good. Then comes an anonymous report on the Internet that your company’s tires are causing accidents that are killing people. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, because with the Internet, the damage is done. The reality is that once a story gets out, it takes on a life of its own. This story (which in this case is complete fiction) causes sales to take a nose-dive.
Online reputation management puts you in control of your destiny and your financial future. It’s imperative that your customers see your message and not what others are saying about you today. Good will is as changeable as the weather. In the case of the example I gave above, what if your company were to have a legitimate tire safety issue that you quickly resolved? How long should your reputation – and profitability – suffer for it? You want the negative publicity to go away. It’s not easy, but it can be done.
You need the help of a firm that specializes in online reputation management because the major search engines are huge. They exert a great deal of control over what your customers and potential customers see. They have complicated computer algorithms that rank results and they’re very difficult to control. Did you see the movie “Wag the Dog”? The search engines are the new media. You can wag the dog, but you have to do it carefully. If you approach the dog from the wrong angle or wag it wrong, you’re going to get bit. This dog’s bite can devastate your profitability, so enlisting the help of a great reputation management company is imperative to your success.
Put an internet reputation management company to work managing your online reputation. You built a reputation by providing superior goods or services to your customers. Don’t jeopardize your future by ignoring or taking for granted your customers’ perception of your reputation. Hire the best online reputation management company you can find. Six Sigma
February 5th, 2008
When my three friends and I get together every week to play golf, we inevitably start talking about work. It always seems to be the case. There is nothing like working a full-time job and trying to complete graduate school for your master’s degree at the same time. We each work in the same building, but for different companies ironically. Anyway, the topic of choice for today’s back nine concerned some courses one of the guys has to take for work. His company is trying to maximize their profits by implementing six sigma. He describes this as a process which uses statistical analysis to evaluate the workings of the company and if there are areas that can be eliminated or adjusted to improve results. As a manager in the accounting department, he has to enroll in several courses and participate in six sigma online. After meeting an hour requirement and completing a project using this process, he can obtain certification on the topic. In order to accomplish courses to the level his company requires him as management, my friend will spend a substantial amount attending seminars and workshops. He must learn the principles behind this process and how to properly implement it into the daily functions of his company. In the business world, someone who obtains a high level of certification is classified as a six sigma black belt. Other people in the company, more specifically those who are not in a managerial position, will only be required to advance far enough to receive certification as a six sigma green belt. This way everyone in the company will understand the process and be able to use it to help the company. Apparently, this process works best when the entire company is onboard. The theory is once every employee knows how to use the process it can be implemented into every aspect of the company quickly and proficiently. There are a lot of resources in a company, but the employees must know how to use it properly to render successful results. Hopefully, for my friend’s sake, he can learn enough about this process to use it in evaluating his golf game and eliminate a few strokes. It would save us all a lot of time searching for his ball is the tall grass.
Florida Driving School
February 5th, 2008
All right, so I was just returning home like ten minutes ago, and as I was totally ready to turn right into my driveway (from a rather busy street), this stupid girl in a huge SUV randomly stopped and decided to back up to parallel park in the spot that was totally to the right of my car. That meant that she forced to me wait until all the cars are gone by in the lane to the left, make a sharp turn to the left lane, drive in front of her and then finally turn right into my so much already desired driveway. I was mad. Totally! What do I have to do with her stupid driving? Why do I have to be an emotional victim of her carelessness?
And I just started thinking – maybe, this type of weirdest driving, total carelessness and lack of responsibility is due to the hot, sunny San Diego climate? Well, if that’s the case, then the same pattern should be observed in all other hot sunny states, like, for example, Florida. Since I honestly have never been to FL, I decided to learn more information about it from my favorite website, google. On the Florida DMV website, I searched for the Florida Drivers Handbook, and when I started looking through it, I did not really see anything much different than what the CA Handbook has to offer. Well, one difference that I noticed is that the CA book calls the permit (the one before you get the license) the “Driver’s Permit”, and Florida drivers’ handbook calls it Florida “Learners Permit”. Not a big difference at all. I wondered, maybe the Florida driving test is harder to pass? No, the Florida drivers license seems to be as difficult (or easy) to obtain as the CA one. And Florida, too, has the Florida Traffic School and Florida online traffic school, so it is as widely used as in CA. Does that just mean then that lack of more stringent rules creates this crazy driving? I need to look further…
