Roger [Keyword] Searching Improvements
June 25, 2007 on 4:01 pm | In Books and Encyclopedias, Database News | Comments OffWhen you do keyword searches in Roger, how do you like to see your results displayed? By relevance? By date? Now you can have both!!
The results of your Roger keyword search will still display first by relevance: those 5 to 1-star groupings, each one starting with the most recent title.

NOW, you can change the results display to the DATE option to see the most recent titles first (regardless of relevancy) or by TITLE for an A-Z list. The ‘date’ option was the way it always looked before we moved to the relevancy view.

Nature Journals Downtime - 6/23
June 22, 2007 on 1:10 pm | In Journals, Known Problems and Down Time | Comments OffAt 9:00 PM (PDT) on Saturday, June 23rd Nature Publishing Group (NPG) expects 15-30 minutes downtime on nature.com and its associated service sites–including the Nature Journals.
If you have trouble accessing the journals beyond the 30 minutes, please e-mail Teri Vogel. NPG will be upgrading key components of the nature.com infrastructure over the next few weeks, and we want to monitor their ‘anticipated’ downtime carefully.

Pluto: Not the Biggest Dwarf Planet?
June 16, 2007 on 7:04 pm | In Science News & Hot Topics | Comments OffFrom this week’s Science: The Mass of Dwarf Planet Eris (M.E. Brown & E.L. Schaller, Caltech)
The discovery of dwarf planet Eris was followed shortly by the discovery of its satellite, Dysnomia, but the satellite orbit, and thus the system mass, was not known. New observations with the Keck Observatory and the Hubble Space Telescopes show that Dysnomia has a circular orbit with a radius of 37,350 ± 140 (1-{sigma}) kilometers and a 15.774 ± 0.002 day orbital period around Eris. These orbital parameters agree with expectations for a satellite formed out of the orbiting debris left from a giant impact. The mass of Eris from these orbital parameters is 1.67 x 1022 ± 0.02 x 1022 kilograms, or 1.27 ± 0.02 that of Pluto.
