New Carpet, Shelving Being Installed in S&E (in-progress)
June 28, 2005 on 12:01 pm | In News & Events | Comments OffThe S&E Library now has new carpet in Reference, and the new shelving installation has begun. To accomplish this, we have moved our Reference Collection temporarily moved onto book trucks and the existing shelving has been disassembled. It may be a little noisy at times during this process and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Access to the Reference Collection will still be available during library hours and library staff at the Reference or Circulation Desks will help you find any reference materials you need.
We expect the carpet installation to be completed by mid-July and look forward to the enhancement to our space.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please contact Jack Neves at 534-9732.
The Staff at the S&E Library thank you for your understanding during this time.
Powder Diffraction File (PDF-4)
June 22, 2005 on 11:15 am | In Database News | Comments OffThe S&E Library now has PDF-4, a database of x-ray powder diffraction data for 26,000+ organic and 139,000+ inorganic materials–including minerals, metals and alloys. It can be accessed on the “stand-alone” computer near the reference desk, replacing the previous Powder Diffraction File that hadn’t been updated since 1997. This database will be of interest to students and researchers in physics, chemistry and materials science.
More information about PDF-4’s features is available from ICDD. PDF-4 has built-in help menus you can access while you’re using the database, and taking a few minutes to browse the menu options will also provide an good overview of the searching options and available data. Please contact the Chemistry Librarian for more information.
