AVG Error

2008 - Posted at 10:46 AM by Don

When updating AVG Anti-Virus v8.0, you may see the error “A .bin file is missing”, and the update does not install. Also, an exclamation (!) point appears on the AVG icon in the system tray.To resolve this issue:

  1. go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat…
  2. make a directory on your desktop called AVG
  3. download AVI: 270.6.4
  4. download IAVI: / 1616
  5. move the dowloaded files to the directory you made called AVG
  6. launch AVG
  7. select tools -> update from directory
  8. select the directory called AVG where you put the downloads

AVG has also released an update to fix this as well, and the client software should be functioning fine if you have updated recently. However, if you still get the error, please follow the steps above to manually update your AVG client.

2008 Spring Network Registration Requirement

2008 - Posted at 12:14 PM by Kanji C

To avoid any interruption to your ResNet connection, make sure that you have re-registered since March 24th, 2008. If you recently lost your connection to the Internet, please re-register your connection by clicking “Register Connection” above. Those who have registered after March 24th, 2008 will experience no loss of connection to the Internet.

You need to register from your on-campus residence. You will need to register BOTH your wired AND wireless connections separately. The registration process will include a security scan of your computer to make sure that it is protected from the most common Internet viruses.

Network devices that we have helped you register (access points, game consoles, etc) do NOT need to be re-registered until July.

For any questions or concerns, please contact ResNet.
