ACRL Plagiarism Webinar - The Role of the Librarian in Combating Student Plagiarism

I attended this webinar on July 12, presented by ACRL and featuring Lynn Lampert of CSU Northridge. She was extremely knowledgeable about the issues surrounding student plagiarism and information literacy. Lynn, who is a former colleague of Jeff Williams, is willing to present an onsite workshop here for us, and she would be able to customize the workshop to our needs. Since she’s close by, it would be fairly easy to arrange.

The smart people in SSH just made some new tutorials on searching in PsycINFO, you can find them here. There are several videos on topics such as how to access PsycINFO, keyword and descriptor searches & using boolean operators to find articles.

The Changing Information Services Needs Of Faculty

This two page article has some interesting new statistics gleaned from a 2006 study of academic librarians and faculty. One main thread running throughout, is that faculty see their need for the library decreasing, and they feel they will continue to need the library less and less as time goes on… What do you think?
