Library dominoes

This is funny because it’s not happening in OUR library. In all seriousness, we really don’t recommend treating library materials this way, but you have to kind of admire the patience it took to do this. We do hope they put the books away afterwards…

Google Scholar Works with EndNote, RefWorks, etc.

May 10, 2006 on 3:07 pm | In Tech Tools | Comments Off

Did you know that you can import references from Google Scholar into EndNote, RefWorks, Reference Manager, or BibTeX?

EndNote, RefWorks, Reference Manager, and BibTeX are bibliographic management software programs that allow you to create your own database of references that you can use with word processing software to automatically format papers, bibliographies, and other documents.

To turn on this feature, go to Google Scholar and click on Scholar Preferences, located to the right of the search box. At the bottom of the Scholar Preferences screen, in the Bibliography Manager section, choose the program you use: EndNote, RefWorks, RefMan (Reference Manager) or BibTeX. Save your preferences changes. The next time you do a Google Scholar search you will see the “Import into ___” option under each reference.

UC E-Links and Pubmed Problems

May 5, 2006 on 9:18 am | In Resource News | Comments Off

We have reports of some intermittent problems this morning with UC E-Links and PubMed, although we are unable to replicate the problems at this moment. Technical staff at both CDL (where UC E-Links resides) and the National Library of Medicine are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it. In the meantime, if you experience problems with UC E-Links for either linking to journals or ordering items you need that we don’t have, here are some alternatives:
- to see if we have articles online or in print, use Roger to search for the journal title. Roger: http://roger.ucsd.edu/
- if you need an article from a journal we don’t have at UCSD, our article request form is here: http://scilib.ucsd.edu/bml/services/article.html
