Magical Confluence! Best Thing Ever!

Well, to me anyway. I LOVE Charlie Harper and am obsessed with birds and birdwatching, so this is the most amazing combination (again, that would be to me in particular..) ever! The Charlie Harper Cornell Labs of Ornithology poster!!
“At age three, Charley Harper fell head-first from the scecond-story window of the family farmhouse onto a stump, which was unaffected by the crash. He was, too, his parents thought, until a few years later when he announced that he wanted to be an artist.”

Inspiration Across the Nation

April 28, 2008 on 3:48 pm | In All! | No Comments

From Double Takes

The Library of Congress is running a new campaign called Inspiration Across the Nation, which encourages you to “inspire others to reach their creative potential.” Its concept is simple, send them your poems, essays, films, photographs, or any other creative art form you can transfer to an electronic file. With your submission, include a description of what inspired the work.. Equally as interesting as the campaign itself, are their advertisements. They’re simply images of inspirational iconic figures made out of finger prints. Check out Library of Congress’ website to view the gallery of submitted work or submit your own.

Tattoos For Bloggers

April 16, 2008 on 10:54 am | In All! | No Comments

You could say that this post has nothing to do with art, but many believe (I would be one of those many) that tattoo is an art form. That said, please don’t get any of these tattoos, I beg you. For that matter, I strongly frown upon these that were posted on BoingBoing a few days ago…So I would say that SOME tattoo is considered art–but then who am I to say?

Sea Organ!

April 3, 2008 on 9:46 am | In All!, Music | No Comments

The Pompomist says:

Like the Singing Ringing Tree posted here last month, Sea Organ is an architectural and experimental musical object located in Zadar, Croatia. Is a pipe organ that has a set of 35 musically tuned tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps played by the sea waves. The movement of the sea pushes air through, and depending on the size and force of the wave, it produces a somewhat random but harmonic sound.

Designed by architect Nikola Basic in 2005, who recently received the European Prize for Urban Public Space for this project.
